Nature of the Course:

Duration : One year (Regular and Non-semester pattern)

Total Intake : 50 (Unit 1) + 50 (Unit 1) = 2 Units = 50 +50 = 100 students

Overview:

We run the two year B.Ed. programme with an annual intake of 100 students. The maximum intake for the First Year is 100 (50 + 50 = 2 units) and for the Second Year is 100 (50 + 50 = 2 units)

DISTRIBUTION OF MARKS FOR TASKS AND ASSISGNMENTS FOR EACH COURSE

Eligibility:

(i)(a) Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and / or in the Master’s Degree in Science / Social Science / Humanities are eligible. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks are also eligible for admission to B.Ed. Degree programme.

(b) The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3(15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board or CBSE or any other recognized Board of Education / Examination and UG Degree Examination of the UGC recognized Universities in any one of the school subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary/ Higher Secondary Education level.

c) The three year Diploma in Engineering shall be treated as equivalent to +2 course for the purpose of eligibility for Admission.

(ii) Candidates, who have passed the UG or PG Degree under Open University System without 10 + 2 pattern of school education Examination shall not be eligible for Admission.

(iii) Candidates, who have taken more than one major subject in Part III & Part IV (under Double / Triple Major System) of UG Degree course should have to choose only one of the major subjects and should have applied for that major subject only. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in two / three major subjects shall be taken in to account to arrive at the percentage of marks as stipulated in item (ix) herein.

(iv) Candidates, who have passed any degree under Additional Degree Programme or lateral entry mode with less than three years duration, are not eligible for admission.

(v) Candidates, who have passed under four year Dual Degree Programme with two major subjects under Part III are not eligible for admission.

(vi) Candidates, who have qualified the PG Degree in the subjects for the codes 11 to 19 securing less than 50% of marks are not eligible for admission, subject to the condition that the major subject in the UG and PG degrees shall be one and the same.

(vii) Candidates, who have qualified the PG Degree (5 year integrated programme) under 10 + 2 + 5 pattern of study, shall be considered for admission. In such cases, the marks obtained by the candidates in the first three years in Part III and Part IV alone shall be taken in to account for admission to B.Ed. Degree programme for the Subject Codes 01 to 10. The marks obtained by the candidates in the last two years (4th & 5th year) alone shall be taken into account for admission to B.Ed. Degree programme for Subject Codes 11 to 19.

(viii) Equivalent Subjects

1. Candidates who have done their UG Degree in Applied Mathematics can apply for Mathematics.

2. Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Theoretical Physics, Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics and Electronics can apply for Physical Science.

3. Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Chemistry can apply for Physical Science.

4. Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Advanced Zoology and Bio-Technology, Plant-Biology, and Plant Bio-Technology can apply for Biological Science.

5. Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Environmental Science and Micro-Biology can apply for Biological Science.

6. Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Geography can apply for Geography.

7. Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Application can apply for Computer Science.

8. Candidates who have done their PG Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics are eligible to apply for Home Science.

9. Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in the school subjects, (Subject Code – 1 to 10) are eligible for admission to B.Ed. However, those who have done the UG in the subjects for which equivalence is not covered under the G.O. are not eligible for admission.

10. All the B.E. / B.Tech. Graduates irrespective of their branch in Engineering / Technology are eligible to study either Mathematics or Physical Science as pedagogy of school subject. However, the B.E./B.Tech. Graduates in Computer Science related branches and Bio-Technology related branches are also eligible to study Computer Science and Biological Science as pedagogy of school subjects respectively. The reservation of seats for the graduates in B.E./ B.Tech. in each pedagogy of school subjects (viz., Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological Science and Computer Science) shall be 5% only.

11. Candidates, who have passed Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with not less than 3 years of duration under lateral entry are also eligible for admission.

(ix) Candidates, with the following marks in the UG Degree are eligible for admission to B.Ed. Degree programme with the subjects in Subject Codes 01 to 10. The marks obtained in UG Degree alone shall be taken to arrive the rank even if they possess PG Degree in the same subject. For the subject in Subject Codes 11 to 19, PG Degree with not less than 50% marks is mandatory and the subject in UG and PG shall be one on the same.

a) Marks obtained by the candidates in the UG Degree Course in Part-III and IV (Tamil/Urdu, English, Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics), Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological Science (Zoology), History, Geography, and Computer Science), alone shall be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks mentioned above. If the candidates possesses higher degree in these subjects, weightage for the highest qualification will be given as mention herein under Item ‘V 2 (i)’ only for arriving at rank.

b) Marks obtained by the candidates in the PG Degree (Home Science, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Indian Culture and Philosophy shall be considered eligible for admission and weightage for the highest qualification will be given as mentioned herein under item ‘V 2(i)’).

c) For the students who have done their Bachelors Degree in Engineering and Technology, the marks obtained in their Degree shall be taken into account.

d) Rounding of marks to the next higher integer shall not be permitted.

e) The candidates who have qualified in UG Degree under Open University System after passing 10th Standard and 12th Examination shall alone be considered for admission to B.Ed. Degree Programme.

f) The candidates who are qualified in UG Degree under Open University System without passing 10th Standard and 12th Examination and subsequently passing 10th and 12th Examination are not eligible for admission to B.Ed. Degree Programme.

x) In the case of differently abled (Physically and Visually Challenged) candidates, a minimum pass in the requisite qualification is enough.

The basis of selection shall be in accordance with the Regulations of the University/ Government of Tamil Nadu Guidelines for Admission to B.Ed. Degree Programme in force from time to time.

General Rules of Admission for B.Ed. (only for married female candidates)

Every married female candidate has to furnish an undertaking that she is not in family way at the time of admission. She has to give a medical certificate from a medical officer.

After a rigorous scrutiny of the applications, admissions are made on the first-come-first-served basis, subject to the availability of seats. The admissions are made based on the guidelines provided by the affiliating University. However, the decision of the College is final with regard to its admission policies and the College arrogates to itself the right to cancel any admissions without prior notice. Age no bar.

A candidate shall be eligible for the admission to the one year Bachelor's Degree Course in Education (B.Ed. (Non-semester)) provided that he/she should have passed the Bachelor's Degree Course in any one of the subjects listed below as major under 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern.

Monthly notice board activity is given and students display creative, attractive, subject based, concept based and theme based notice boards as group wise activities.

Students display famous fairy tales as beautiful story corners and the primary level students of our model school visit the corners and our students narrate the stories to them.

Field Trips/ Residential Camps:

To give a different exposure outside the campus which provides a learning experience is organized. One day trips to special schools, Historical Monuments or Heritage Places. A Heritage Hunt is conducted every year for our students.

Functions

Events:

Republic Day and Independence Day are celebrated. Other events like Graduation Day, Teachers Day, Children’s Day, Diwali Celebrations, Christmas Celebrations, Pongal Celebrations, Women’s Day, Sports Day and Valedictory Day are celebrated every year.

Celebrations:

The inaugural pooja and the Saraswathi pooja’s are celebrated in a very grand manner on any auspicious date.

Graduation Day:

This is the occasion on which the B.Ed Graduates receive their B.Ed Degree. The day is also called “Graduation Day”. The Degree Distribution Ceremony of colleges is named as “Graduation Day” as per the norms prescribed by the university. The students receive their degree certificates on this day.

Other Activities

Competitions:

Individual and Group competitions are conducted every month for both the years. Individual competitions like storytelling, audio and video stories, art from waste, photography, mathematical rangoli, mask making, poster making, face painting, and traditional fashion show, clay modeling, essay, poetry writing, puppet show, street play, mime, flameless cooking, singing, one minute speech, public speaking, notice board, quiz, spell bee and collage competitions are some of the competitions conducted by the college every year to bring out their creativity, capacity building and collaborative skills.

Language Development Classes:

Every day there is a time allotted for improving the skill of communication in both English and Tamil.

Sports:

There is a college level sports day conducted every year during the month of January. Students are shortlisted from the college level to participate in the University level conducted by the TNTEU. Students have games classes every week where they play indoor as well as outdoor games.

First Year:
